If you have ever taken a dip in the Irish Sea in summer, then you will know how chilly it can be even then!  Suffice to say, in December its a whole lot colder as ChildFund staff members recently found out.  Our Deputy Executive Officer Elena Lorigan and colleague Clodagh Byrne gathered in Dun Laoghaire last Saturday for a pre-Christmas swim, and to remind people about our appeal to provide playground equipment for children in Uganda.  Joining Elena and Clodagh on the day were Concert Pianist Owen Lorigan, and Ireland’s only Chess Grandmaster Alexander Baburin.

Despite the challenging conditions everyone had a lot of fun and a sincere thank you must go to everyone who has already supported this great cause, and those who turned up to support us on the day.   There is still time to donate and to help us reach our target of €4,600 to help put a smile on children faces in Uganda.
