We work in partnership with national NGOs all of which are affiliated to ChildFund Alliance. ChildFund’s internal guideline is to spend at least 80 percent of total sponsorship income on health and education programmes and no more than 20 percent on supporting services. As soon as sponsorship funds arrive at the project, there is a strong system of accountability to make sure that the funds are used for the benefit of the child. These controls include on-site reviews, budget evaluation, and comprehensive auditing of projects and national offices. Assistance to an individual child is primarily in the form of a community-based service because usually it is the very infrastructure of the community that is lacking. For example, in relation to education, this may be building a school or hiring the teachers. In some cases, it means providing the uniform or school supplies that enable the child to attend an existing school. In all cases, we are monitoring to ensure that your sponsorship money is making positive improvements in critical indicators. That is how we ensure that your sponsorship donations are properly used and are truly making a positive difference in your child's life. In addition, when you want your child to get a special gift, we deliver it for you. We deliver millions of these cash gifts directly to children without taking an administration fee. The cost to us is significant and it is included as part of the 20% that we use for finding and keeping sponsors.
